THE MARCH ON ROME

After the First World War, Italy was experiencing a difficult time economic partner, causing the population to despair with the traditional governments. Leftist movements, inspired by the Revolution Bolshevik attracted more supporters. In the opposite direction to the left, appeared far-right movements, including the fascist movement led by Benito Mussolini, a former journalist and socialist. Transformed into the Italian Fascist Party in 1921, the pair move attracted a large number of other Italian disenchanted with politics.
Fascists preached the establishment of a dictatorship in Italy, to fight the Bolshevik danger and raise the country to former glory. In two years, the fascist militias moved against their opponents using violence, hijacking the headquarters of the leftist parties, the unions, starting parallel governments through intimidaçãoe even the murder of opponents. With extreme nationalists
messages, the fascists began in October 1922, a decisive action that would lead them to power. At the party congress on October 24 in Naples, Mussolini openly threatened the constituted authorities, accusing them of being unable to control the anarchy that arose in Italy. Compelled by Mussolini, the fascists began a carefully staged action, breaking a march that drew a large cross of black shirts, triggered officially on October 28. Three large columns of black shirts, formed by paramilitaries of the party, responded to a call of Mussolini, heading for Rome. Strategically placed in Tivoli, and Monterotondo Civitavecchia, the columns closed in on Rome. About 50 000 men marched to the Italian capital.
Given the impasse, driven by a fear of possible bloodshed, the government declared a state of siege. But the king of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele III, refused to measure except the Parliament, prompting him to resign. The king, on October 30, named Benito Mussolini's chief of staff. When the black shirts come to Rome, instead of triggering a civil war transformed the city into a big party to celebrate the stage for the rise of party government. Peacefully, the fascists marched on Rome triumphant. It began one of the most controversial moments in the history of Italy, introducing one of the largest right-wing dictatorships of the twentieth century, which would last two decades. During that time, the country would become involved in World War II alongside Adolf Hitler, whom Mussolini's government would become totally dependent and submissive. The march on Rome
represented on the stage of politics, a great encenaçãoe apparatus that has led so apotheosis, the fascists to power.

Consolidation of the Fascist Movement Party Like

In March 1919, Benito Mussolini founded in Milan, the fascist movement. Coming of leftist movements, Mussolini was Italian Socialist Party member, getting to drive the newspaper Avanti . After founding the newspaper "Il Popolo d'Italia , was expelled from the party in 1914.
In 1921, the fascist movement was transformed into a party, ruled by an exaggerated right-wing ideology, which preached among other things, nationalism, the abolition of the right to strike of civil servants and FRANCIZATI ; the dictatorship in Italy, as a solution to their economic and social problems.
The black shirts, name derived from the official uniform of the fascist militants, became quickly, a powerful paramilitary organization, the intimidaçãoe used violence to harass their opponents. Italo Balbo, the most powerful commander of the black shirts in northern Italy, made in 1922 between May and August, a series of exploits that demoralized the existing government, occupying with his squad major cities such as Ferrara, Ravenna and Parma, replacing the local authorities by his men, by installing a parallel and illegitimate government.
The rise of the fascists, in just three years after the creation of motion and less than a year of consolidation as a party, it was dizzying. Strategically waved to Mussolini's army, preventing his men went into combat with him, thus making the sympathy of many commanders in the Italian armed forces. Strategy was also part of the church, which in January 1922 with the death of Benedict XV, Pius XI elected as new pope, and that Mussolini strongly welcomed and respect. Army and church no longer fear the fascists, was left to win the support of the monarchy.
Simultaneously with the rise of fascism, came the decline of the Socialists, who have gradually undermined, often physically removed in an ambush prepared by his enemies.

The Fascists They assured the Monarchy

In early 1922, after failing in an attempt to form a cabinet on the left, which contained the rise of fascists, the government of Bonomi resigned. To replace him, he was appointed the liberal and expressionless Luigi Facta.
In July, the fascists promoted an invasion of the city of Cremona, raiding the headquarters of Socialist Party, occupying municipal buildings and burning the house's deputy Party Popolare Guido Miglioli. In response to the atrocities, members of both parties have moved a motion of no confidence against the government of Facta, weakening it and causing him to fall later that month. After twelve days of negotiations, was again sworn in Facta government.
addition, the fascists demonstrated their strength in the face of opponents. In Emilia-Romagna, a general strike was organized by the Socialists in protest against the actions Fascists. Because the government failed to stop the strike, the Fascists have taken over essential public services, guaranteed to be maintained during the strike. The action resulted in a humiliating defeat for the Socialists.
With more and more forceful actions, the fascists have continued success in attacks on towns and the headquarters of the hostile parties, forming shadow governments. Matured to idea of a fascist revolution that took power. Mussolini showed himself torn between trying to spark a revolution or conquest Pacific power.
Politics, Mussolini had reassured the army and the church, that would not be achieved with the fascist rise to power. It remained calm the monarchy. On September 20, the leader of fascist speech at a rally of the party in Udine. He claimed that radical changes could be upgraded without affecting the monarchy. So the army, the church and the monarchy, Fussing stopped in front of a fascist revolution possible. Cleverly, Mussolini conquered the sympathy of many Members of those powerful segments of Italian society and politics.

Outlined Plans for the March

During the second half of 1922, the specter of a march on Rome that resulted in the seizure of power by the fascists, echoed in the political arena . An advance on the capital seemed imminent. On October 11, the intent of the march became clear publicly when in Cremona, the crowd cheered the leader Mussolini shouted " for Rome, to Rome ... "In
October 1922, Mussolini finally decided to unleash the revolutionary process. It met in secret in the village San Marco in Milan on October 16, with fellow Italo Balbo, Michele Bianchi, Cesare Maria De Vecchi and Marshal Emilio De Bono, among others. It was decided that the militias would be unified under one command, in charge of Balbo, De Bono and De Vecchi. The march on Rome would be held, the date of its outbreak would be marked in Fascist Congress, which would take place from October 24 in Naples.
At first, De Vecchi, a former royalist who had no sympathy for method revolutionary, and De Bono, did not think the time of the great march on Rome was, but turned back before the revolutionary enthusiasm of Italo Balbo and Mussolini himself.
Initially, the strategic plan suggested that Mussolini was by three great pillars of the fascist militias stayed concentrated in the provinces of Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany and the Lakes, where converge to Rome. The generals on active duty and Cecherini Fara, who did not belong officially to the party, but they were at the meeting in Milan as guests of Mussolini, warned of the imprudence to go a long way, nearly half of Italy. Given the caveats, Italo Balbo gave the suggestion that would be implemented, the merger would give three points near Rome, in Tivoli, Civitavecchia and Monterotondo, moving to the barracks general in Perugia. Plans for a massive march on Rome was finally established.

During the Congress in Naples

It took about eight days between the secret meeting of Congress Milãoeo fascist party in Naples. Enough time to do away all obstacles and perfected the great revolutionary plan.
On October 23 Mussolini, coming from Milan, en route to Naples, passed through Rome, where he met with Salandra, which planned, along with the fascists, to form a rightist government. The next day in Naples, forty thousand fascists marched in the afternoon, the square of the Plebiscite. Before them, Mussolini gave a fiery speech that would shake the nation. Eloquently stated:
" solemnly assure you, however, that our time sounded. Either we give the government or we are going to Rome to conquer it. It is a matter of days or hours. "
Final preparations for the march were established that night at the Hotel Vesuvio in Naples, before Mussolini left the city secretly towards Milan The powers of the military operation, when it was launched, would be given to fully quadrunvirato consisting of Italo Balbo, De Bono, The Bianchi and Vecchi, and they should be broadcast at midnight on 26 October. A mobilization secret began to be made on October 27, and finally, on October 28th attacks revolutionaries begin to city newspapers, the offices of organizations opposing the fascists, police stations, union, station s Post and several other strategic points. Following the attacks, yet on Oct. 28, a concentration of black shirts in three different points, begin the march on Rome.
In front of the Hotel Vesuvio, fascist militias paraded, singing and shouting so eloquently: " To Rome! To Rome! "

The March of Victory Fascist

On October 26, the fascist commanders assumed their posts in the concentrations of the militias. Civitavecchia, the command was given to Perrone Compagni, aided by General Cecherini, the column would be commanded by Ulysses Monterotondo Igliorie, and the Tivoli, by Giuseppe Botai. The quadrunvirato consisting of Italo Balbo, De Bono, The Bianchi Vecchi and signed the manifesto written by Mussolini, which would be released at the height of the outbreak of the march. In
Rome has spread panic in the face of a revolutionary fascist march with unpredictable consequences. Facta is advised to resign. After reluctantly, when news of the march of the three columns of black shirts, who came to the alarming capital, Facta, decided to finally resign.
Before the news of the resignation of Facta, one of the requirements for the fascists not to attack Rome, De Bono, Balbo, and Bianchi decided to suspend action for 24 hours, waiting new guidelines. But the movement was already underway and it is impossible to reverse or control. Rain and cold, the march on Rome continued.
At dawn on October 28, Luigi Facta, has resigned and awaiting the appointment of his replacement, received a call from Michele Bianchi, accusing him of being responsible for a possible sible bloodshed. At five o'clock in the morning, Facta convened an emergency meeting of Cabinet government. Simultaneously, the newspaper "The Popolo d'Italia "was put into circulation, bringing the manifesto drawn up by Mussolini and signed by quadrunvirato revolutionary. Published in its entirety, the statement urged:
" Italian fascists. Sounded the hour of the decisive battle. (...) (...)
Fascists from all over Italy, apelai for your spirit and your strength. We have to win. Venceremos.
Viva Italy, fascism alive.
"
While the proclamation of the Fascist manifesto circulating on the streets, Luigi Facta and his cabinet decided decree a state of siege. He went to Vittorio Emanuele III to sign the decree, but King says that you must avoid conflict, and refuses to sign the document. Trapped, Facta communicated to politicians and military officials that the state of siege was not worth living.
On October 29, Mussolini published in the journal The Popolo d'Italia, "one who would be his last article as a journalist. Emphatically, the fascist leader concluded: "Fascism wants power and there to get it .
Words are met. In Rome, De Vecchio summoned to the palace, receiving the mission to summon Mussolini to Rome to be appointed prime minister of Italy.
In Milan, Mussolini received the telegram with the news of his appointment as prime minister. Accepted it immediately. Pass the direction of the newspaper "The Popolo d'Italia" to his brother Arnaldo, leaving instructions for it to completely destroy the socialist newspapers " Avanti "and" Giustizia. Following morning by train to Rome.
On October 30, the train that brought Mussolini arrives at 9.30am to Civitavecchia. There, using a black shirt, takes stock of the fascist militia who were ready to march on Rome. An hour later, he triumphantly arrives in the Italian capital. Still wear the black shirt, was received warmly by the king, the Quirinal Palace. Minutes later, Vittorio Emmanuel and Benito Mussolini appear on the balcony of the Quirinal, being acclaimed and applauded by the crowd. In
night of October 30, 19:00, Benito Mussolini, already stripped of the black shirt, to wear a coat, took the king of Italy a list with the names of ministers who would form his cabinet. At 39, he was the youngest Italian to hold office during the past sixty years. The fascists came to power. The dictatorship was established in Italy.
On the streets of Rome, the militias of black shirts, who had prepared for an intense armed struggle, performed in the presence of the king, a joyful and triumphant march to claim the victory. After rally, Mussolini, as the first Italian Prime Minister ordered the columns to disperse, and all returned home. On the night of October 31, the trains carried to Rome the last black shirts, now in power, which would extend for two decades. The most troubled of the recent history of Italy and the world.

THE LAW OF DESIRE

One of the most compelling films and violators of the work of Pedro Almodovar, "Law of Desire " (La Ley Del Deseo ) is a paixãoe ode to sex, and taken to extreme. Provocative, marginal, underground, the film closes the most creative and caustic English director. Since then, Almodóvar would gain world fame, his lapidary work, losing the crude language with corrosive humor that permeated his characters.
The film features a gallery of complex characters, intricate in their identities and secrets. All of them are driven by Verve sex, shooting up to the cliff's latent desire. Tina (Carmen Maura), sweet and passionate woman in essence, is the reflection of her mirror a man of sorrows, who as a child was sexually molested by father. To live this incestuous passion, underwent a sex-change surgery to become a transsexual. Pablo (Eusebio Poncela), brother of Tina, is a successful director of theater and cinema. In its empty, use cocaine to escape the truth of feelings, nurtures a passion for the beautiful Juan (Miguel Molina), but is not matched in its beauty. Finally Antonio (Antonio Banderas), an impulsive young woman seeking her identity, fighting his homosexuality, but gets carried away by passion, soon turned into obsession, by Pablo. And in a context of passion, full of snares and traps of feeling, that forms the fatal triangle between the three characters involved in the irresistible impulses of sex and passion. Never
gay themes, common in the work of Almodovar, was exposed for him so explicitly. Never love was so torn the nail in his lacerating wit as here. The feelings of the labyrinth are extracted to the surface, leading the audience to a resounding end, leaving her breathless.
Última grande parceria com Carmen Maura, que se diluiria em “ Mulheres on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown "(1988), only to return in" Volver "(2006). " Law of Desire" is, over the years, a historical picture of the cinema of Pedro Almodovar, and the careers of Antonio Banderas and Carmen Maura. He is the director in its purest essence creative.

The Parade of Celebrities Strangers

The beginning of the film is already a defy which prepares the audience for what was coming. In the first scene, a handsome young man appears on her back, naked, touching her body as a voice commands. Embarrassed, but ready to fulfill its role, the boy comes into obscene gestures, almost pornographic. Ends up shooting and nude model, has your money. On the other side of the camera, starts, finally " Law of Desire."
The characters are presented in a crude, dubious and marginal environments in Madrid. The film director Pablo Quintero (Eusebio Poncela) pass through the bars at night, exchanging glances with pretty boys, moving to cocaine. In the shadow of Pablo, Antonio Benitez appears (Antonio Banderas), pretty young and impetuous, even denying their homosexual side, to masturbate by dirty toilets to think of being possessed by a man.
Across the city, walks Tina (Carmen Maura) and one child, Ada (Manuela Velasco). A strange relationship maAnd daughter joins the two. In a church, Tina, to sing an area, shows up unexpectedly to the priest, who was the boy who sang in choirs years ago. Tell him his most lacerating truth, as it passed into adolescence, was owned by his father. The incestuous relationship of the two meant that the parents' marriage came the end. To live that strange love, Tina was taken by his father to Morocco, where she underwent surgery for a sex change. Yes, Tina is a transsexual. Ada, the girl had been adopted by her. The characters
infect viewers with their truths, spoken with a caustic wit, piercing, in a baroque setting. Pablo, Ada and Tina exchange moments of tenderness and love, building a family as possible within the universe of each. Exotic, different, is the new family portrait of the times that spawned it, where father and mother do not always match what nature decreed, but the feelings.
Tina is lonely, he gives himself to art as an actress performing the monologue "The Human Voice " by Jean Cocteau. Clings to Ada, caring for her since her mother traveled. Interestingly Carmen Maura plays a transsexual, and the mother of Ada is interpreted by Bibi Andersen, a transsexual with a constant presence in the films of Pedro Almodovar. The small Ada platonic passion for Pablo. Good movie moments are experienced by Tina and Ada, as the performance on stage in a sublime moment, being done in the song "Ne Me Quitte Pas " by Jacques Brel, sung by the velvet voice of singer Maysa. In the credits of the film, the Brazilian still appears with the name Maysa Matarazzo.
Pablo, Antonio and Tina, three characters who will soon intertwine in an explosive encounter, sensual, disturbing and lethal, as never again watch the English cinema.

Obsessive Love Antonio

Pablo is a man who walks by feelings lightly, without getting lost in them. Walk almost sold to what is happening around you. I never knew or suspected the involvement of Tina with her father. His typewriter is your truth, it extracts the text that weaves his work.
Renowned as a filmmaker, Pablo frequents nightclubs undergrounds, like any gay man from Madrid does. Aware of the suffering harassment, is promiscuous and hunter. Privately, Pablo is passionate and beautiful young Juan (Miguel Molina). But Juan is in the prime of his youth and discovered, not loving the filmmaker with the same ardor. Breaking away from Pablo, the young leaves for the interior, leaving him in the clutches of loneliness in Madrid.
Juan Pablo thinks, misses the solitude of the bars. It will be the talk of the night you'll find Antonio, an engaging young and rebellious. Nursing a crush on Pablo, the boy decided about it. Soon they are involved by mutual seduction atraçãoe. Even in love with Juan Pablo Antonio accepts the harassment. Is he that m starts young in sexual life between two men. Pedro Almodovar describes the encounter in a raw scene where Antonio lets be possessed by Pablo under pain of penetration. The scene is transgressive, surprised and scandalized the audience of the 1980s. Later, it was cause for disagreement between Antonio Banderas and Almodovar; because of it, the actor tried to prevent the film from being shown in America, built where a Latin macho image in Hollywood films. The director was outraged by the attempt to veto.
Started in sexual life, passionate, ecstatic, Antonio was still innocent love affairs gentle moved by night. If Pablo out for a nice night of sex, for delivery outside Antonio, passion, unconditional love. Even with the refusal of Pablo Antonio is present in your life. Does your lover's existence. Become a suit man, willing to do all the wishes of the beloved, showering him with treats. Antonio begins to nurture a passion for violent and obsessive Pablo, being jealous and impulsive.
But the truth is only one of Pablo Antonio is an adventure, nothing more. Juan was chosen for him to walk his life. When Antonio discovers that the heart of the beloved is busy, filled with the fickleness of Juan, he is struck by the dark shadow of jealousy. Antonio
part of Madrid, heading to meet Juan. Inside, he seduces one that seemed the biggest rival. Antonio wants to know everything about the feelings of Pablo, including how it felt to have Juan. Pablo Antonio's own, including wearing a shirt like the beloved. Driven by jealousy, Juan Antonio draws to a fatal trap. In an act of fury, pushing the rival in the cliff, throwing him into a deadly flight. Before falling, clinging to Juan Antonio, ripping the shirt pocket. That would be the clue that would lead the police to get to Pablo, who became the prime suspect.

The Passion Spent, the Far

Pablo had gone to meet Juan, when he learned of his death. Until then, he had not taken seriously Antonio. One begins to suspect that the young lover was capable of anything for your love, even kill. Distraught, he suffers an accident while driving the car.
Pablo remains some time in hospital. While convalesce, is visited by Tina. The sister reveals she's in love, had found the man in your life. Pablo does not suspect that the mysterious man is Antonio. Excluded from the life of her lover, the young man decides to close the circle, Tina enticing. In an exuberant moment, Carmen Maura leads a passionate Tina. His interpretation of escapes caricature and stereotype that develops around transgender characters. The actress is perfect, living one of the biggest challenges of his career. An anthology movie scene is when Tina Ada walks the streets of Madrid on a hot summer night. Passing by a gardener watering the street, turned to him and asks: "Irrigation me! Irrigation me! "When Pablo
leaves the hospital, the truth comes out. It was Antonio's love Tina. Desperate, he panics, they can only see the boy murderer, who had been away from the lover. Antonio finds himself increasingly stuck. Would soon be arrested and prosecuted for the death of Juan. In a desperate move, it uses Tina hostage, forcing an encounter with Pablo.
The film reaches its climax when Antonio, armed and determined, you can be alone with Pablo. Outside the building, the police and the press closes the circle. Breathless, Antonio POEA weapon behind the jeans, hugging each other and one begins to Pablo dance with him. Proves deadly in love. All had to have that moment of love with Pablo, and more would, if need be. No matter what the outside world. At that time Antonio gave himself up to his true universe. Broke all the rules, had violated any laws, only to live the higher law of desire.
Pablo moved by the passion of Antonio. Belatedly discovered the power of love that young impetuous. Together unveil the pitfalls of sent iment. They give themselves as lovers tender and passionate. In the arms of Pablo Antonio succeeded his moment of happiness and fulfillment. Have not needed any more. Let the lover in bed and back into the room. Pablo awakens from slumber by the noise of firing a shot. Run into the room to find Anthony on the floor, covered in blood, dead. He despairs. Juan lost, lost Antonio, both engulfed by the law of desire. Pablo mourns the death of the strangest and most intense he had ever had a lover. In a fury, grabs the typewriter and throws it out the window. Faced with that act, the police decided to raid the apartment. Apotheosis, Pedro Almodovar movie and closed the first phase of its films.

OEDIPUS - THE MOST TRAGIC OF MYTHS AND HUMAN FACES

Greek mythology consists of a vast and rich gallery of characters, divided into gods, demigods and heroes. The Oedipus myth is the most human of all, a synthesis of ancient Greek view on poverty and human tragedy. Oedipus born king, who bears a curse inherited from his father. Away from the mother, he grows up by another family of kings. Handsome, virile and intelligent, his myth avoids the traditional heroes, like Achilles, that theme as the essence of warrior strength and virility of epic adventures. Oedipus has the intelligence as an ally, which makes it fair, deciphering the riddles of the gods and humans, making it through wisdom, leader and winner of his people.
But exactly the greatest enigma, which governs its own life, will be the point Search Oedipus. Caught in the tangle of their truth, Oedipus kills his father Laius and marries his mother, the beautiful Jocasta. Becomes a mighty king, ruling with wisdom justiçae on Thebes. But Oedipus, who committed the acts innocent, is guilty of the murder of his father and incest with his mother. Fate had decided his tragedy, the gods led him to the crimes, that the curse would come true that he was legacy.
One characteristic of the polytheistic religions is that man is born and now lives with the determination of Destiny, the larger entity and sovereign of the gods. The monotheistic claim that man is who, through free will determines his destiny. The Oedipus myth aligned contradictions, because even innocent, he is guilty of inheriting the curse on generations of their family as well as Adin , that of Catholic Christianity cast curse of death on their generation human.
Oedipus is the most human and tragic myths. The victory over the Sphinx, the will to triumph over the curse of the gods, the murder of her father, marrying his mother, and the need to discover the disturbing truths of the human soul make Oedipus the most vulnerable men in the mirror, as well as humanity is to face his own truths. Oedipus is the key to the eternal love between involuntary maAnd son, between truth and falsehood. By discovering who you are, not support the image of the world and of himself, sticking his own eyes. Oedipus, in its tragedy, is the most perfect human conception of mythological creation, the vision that escapes from heróie of the gods, drawing the picture universal psychology of the mind of man and his eternal struggle against the gods created to justify the loneliness of the soul.

Oedipus, the symbol of the Greek Theatre of Tragedy

Initially, the Oedipus myth was only mentioned in the works " Odyssey" and " Iliad" of Homer (ninth century BC). Gradually, his mythological saga was developed, according to some historians, in a poem composed of eighth and seventh centuries BC, which was entitled " Edipodia " and that over time, be lost would definitely.
the Greek Theatre that was appropriated the Oedipus myth, transforming the issue in his greatest tragedy. It was through the theater that the character through the centuries, becoming the symbol of human tragedy, revealed in the whole design, both in his psychology, sexuality, ambiçãoe intelligence.
The profile of the Oedipus myth is the most well-known that Sophocles (496? -406? BC) described in his tragedy "Oedipus the King ", "Oedipus at Colonus "and" Antigone . "Oedipus Rex " describes him as a young and impetuous, that the peak of his apotheosis, wins the Sphinx, kills his father, marries the maAnd becomes the most powerful kings of Thebes. At the height of power and happiness, Oedipus is confronted with the truths of their actions. In Sophocles' play brings a climax of suspense, which develops as a rigid and precise mathematical theorem, a fact which actually reveals is the cruelest of truths. The play ends with the death of Jocasta and Oedipus blindness. In the play "Oedipus at Colonus ," the sovereign appears old and blind, exiled and driven by his daughter Antigone. Finally, " Antigone", last part of the Theban Trilogy , shows the tragedy of Oedipus in the offspring that reaches Antigone, Ismene, Eteocles and Polynices, sons had with his mother.
Aeschylus (525-456 BC) also devoted part of his work in creating plays about Oedipus myth, making them part of the Theban cycle, "Laius & rdquo ;, "Oedipus "," Seven Against Thebes "and" The Sphinx ", the latter being a satirical drama. Finally, Euripides (480? -406 BC), last of the three major Greek tragedians, wrote "The Phoenician " where Oedipus shows an old, living in Thebes, enclosed by their own children.
Thus, Oedipus is synonymous with the greatest tragedy of Greek drama. Fundamental point of his essence. It is the largest human character created by the imaginative genius of the culture of ancient Greece.

The Roots of Tragedy About the Children of Labdacus

The curse that befell Oedipus began with Laius, son of A bdac, wise Theban king. When the king died, Laius was still too young to rule Thebes, which led Lico, loyal follower of the king to assume the regency of the throne. But Lycus took the throne from the Anfiãoe Zeto nephews. Fearing being killed Laius fled for Elida, being welcomed by Pelops, king of the place.
In the realm of Pelops, Laius and Chrysippus, the youngest son and favorite of the king, fell in love violently. Hidden love that young people live with the fury of lovers. Blinded by feelings, Laius decides to kidnap the beautiful Chrysippus. On the Trail, attracts to itself the wrath of Pelops, who pursues relentless lovers. Fearing punishment from his father, Chrysippus committed suicide. Overcome by grief and hatred, Pelops casts a curse that will befall all generations descending of Labdacus, present, past and future. Upon hearing the curse of Pelops, the Gods take care that it is fulfilled, and the Destiny takes the mission of putting it for three generations. After the death of
Chrysippus, Laius returned to Thebes, has waged an uphill battle against the usurpers of the throne, returning it definitely for you. To reign and absolute sovereign, the king decided to take as wife the beautiful and sensitive Jocasta. As soon as he saw it, it became a passion for it, being perfectly matched pela mulher.

Toda a Tebas regozijou-se quando a bela rainha Jocasta said he expected the coming of the heir. Initially happy with her pregnancy, Laius leaned over the woman's belly grew, suddenly feeling a strong pain. Unwittingly, the king would let themselves down by an unknown sadness, despair by a stranger approached the more the time of birth. Taken by
omen, Laius decided to go to Delphi, where he would consult the temple of Apollo. In oracle, asked about the heir to be born from the womb of Jocasta. Relentlessly, the oracle revealed a terrible prophecy: "The son that the queen was on his belly would kill his own father, and would marry the mother, and finally lead to the ruin palace of Thebes .
Laius was upset before such a tragic revelation. Upon returning to the palace, he found the words of the oracle to Jocasta. The Queen was saddened, heartbroken, no longer felt joy to look at the belly. Even sad, never stopped loving that which it would rise, even though it brought a curse on all.
When the child was born, Jocasta united all the forces of your being to hand it to her husband. Suffering, saw the child being torn from her arms by the force of prophecy. Laius, in silence, took the child to himself and left. Jocasta let himself fall on the bed, crying all the tears of a mother, but with the certainty that preserved the justice of the sovereign. Away from the palace
Laius went next to a slave, to the mountain Cithaeron, with a determination to eliminate child. In the middle of the woods, he looked small. Dared not kill him directly.
Pólibo levou o pequeno à presence of his wife, Merope. The Queen was taken to happiness, because his belly was never able to conceive a child. Together, the rulers decide to adopt the child. Deposit it in a cradle of white silk. They call him Oedipus, would be created with all the love that refused her real parents.

A Father and Son in Fatal Clash

Oedipus grew up happy in Corinth. He was admired by all. Grown beautiful, bringing a tall stance that all boys imitated. Never revealed to him the true origin. Polyhus Merope and brought him up as the son and legitimate heir to the throne.
But as an adult, he heard rumors that she was adopted. Despite the denial of the parents became suspicious and unsure of who she was. Oedipus never be closed to their truths, as a boy who was chasing her, she was fearful or joyful. Thus, under the suspicion of the rumors that came, came to the oracle of Apollo at Delphi, for the gods to render its hidden truths. Again the oracle was ruthless in his words, saying the young man: "Thou shalt kill your father and marry your own mother. "Faced with the cruel
prophecy Oedipus tried to annul the words of the gods. Desperate, he left Corinth, fleeing Greek roads. He had decided never to return, not to fulfill the prophecy and kill Polyhus marry Merope. It would be eternally wandering exile from Corinth.
But the gods had already decided that the prophecy would be fulfilled. Wandering the streets, Oedipus arrived at the crossroads of Megas, where the paths converge Daul and Thebes. Stop undecided. Where to go? To Thebes? Why feel almost vital to follow the path of that city? On the road, an unexpected surge, the arrogant Polifontes, requiring that the foreigner himself off the road, so that his master, Laius, can pass. Faced with the harsh words of the servant, Oedipus does not move and remained impassive. Angered, the young Polifontes assaults. In defending himself, Oedipus strikes a blow against violent aggressor. Angry, avenging Laius's servant, hitting blows with the stranger. Oedipus turns to Laius, looking at him deeply. Father and son face to face, do not recognize. Dock into a violent fight, beating themselves as fierce enemies. Laio falls under the sword of Oedipus. When falling, bathed in blood, looking for the assailant struck with a strange tenderness. Death takes him in her arms. Oedipus continues to struggle with the heralds of the king, making two of them fall over. Only one flees, escaping the fury of the outsider.
spite of having committed crimes in a fight in self defense, Oedipus feels weird in front of those killed. Continues his wandering, heading to Thebes, where the gods reserved for him the complete fulfillment of the curse. On the road, lay Laius shed blood after the sword of the son.

Decipher the Sphinx Oedipus and married his mother

After still err by roads, Oedipus arrives at Thebes. Find the city in panic. The Sphinx, a monster half woman, half lion-tailed dragãoe wings of a bird of prey, threw a terrible enigma to all who passed along the road, " Which animal has four feet ; s morning, two at noon and three o'clock in the evening? "
Nobody knew the answer. As punishment, she chose a Theban citizen and devoured it, making the population gripped by fear and terror. By finding the Sphinx, Oedipus has accepted the challenge to him. When you hear the riddle, he promptly replied: "The man . In childhood creeps on hands weigh; in adulthood, remain on two feet, and in old age must use a cane to walk. "Given the intelligence
Oedipus, the Sphinx was grieved. Proposed launch you a new puzzle: "They are two sisters. One creates the other. And second, in turn, is generated by the first. Who are they? "
Oedipus answered without hesitation: " The light and dark. Daylight brightens opened in heaven, it generates the darkness of night, which in turn precedes the daylight .
Young answered all the riddles of the Sphinx. Wisely, it reveals the tricks and spells. Embarrassed, she rose to the top of the cliff, throwing himself on the rocks. The suicide of the monster was applauded by the Theban population. Oedipus was acclaimed by the people as their king, since Laius was dead and had left no heirs. Already
King Oedipus sought to know the sad widow of Laius. Sadly, the beautiful Jocasta found himself in his room closed. Impetuous, the new king invaded his privacy. Face to face, Oedipus and Jocasta contemplate themselves, moved by a strange attraction, urged that a recognition of the bowel. Without which they could identify those feelings were confused, we thought the passion fruit. Magnetically attracted to each other, they gave themselves a dance of hugs and kisses burning. Thrilled, joined the naked bodies in one soul. Maee son loved to exhaustion of the senses. In the mind of Oedipus was decided, the widow of Laius was his wife and queen.

In Truth Blindness

For years Oedipus lived happily alongside Jocasta. She bore with four children, two women, and Ismene Antigone, and two men, Eteocles and Polynices. He became a wise ruler and loved by the Theban. But one day, Thebes was beset by a terrible plague. In the fields, the plants were drying, the plants died, leading to hunger at all.
Worried about the tragedy that had befallen his kingdom, Oedipus decided to consult the oracle. He sent Creon, Jocasta's brother, to Delphi. Again, the gods were merciless: "The plague only end when the murder of Laius be avenged."
By knowing the determination of the oracle of Apollo, Oedipus begins a scathing investigation to discover the murderer of Laius. Relentless in the pursuit of truth and justice, Oedipus consult Teiresias, a blind old seer, capable of in the dark your eyes, see the future and the past. Pressed by Oedipus, not left to guess but reveal the disturbing truth, the king of Thebes was the murderer of Laius. Thinking
be the victim of a conspiracy to remove him from power, Oedipus Teiresias expelled from his kingdom. But do not give up on seeking the truth. Seeing the grief of her husband, Jocasta tries to reassure him, because he could not have killed Laius. Tell him that a prophecy had said that her husband would be killed by his own child, but annulled the prophecy that by abandoning the child to death on Mount Cithaeron. Laius, Jocasta said, had died in battle at a crossroads by a stranger. The more he heard
Jocasta, Oedipus more was lost in the truths that it filled the air. Restless, anxious, Oedipus one begins to question the details of the death of Laius. Knows that there was a survivor. Calls for it to be found and come to his presence.
Simultaneously, a messenger arrives from Corinth, announcing the death of Polyhus. Even with the sadness at the news, Oedipus breathing easier, the failed prophecy of the gods, the father does not died by his hands. But the relief is short lived, the messenger reveals to him that he was the son of Polybius, who had been rescued by a shepherd who saw Laio leave it on the mountain Cithaeron. Even a newborn was taken to Corinth and created by the rulers of the city.
Upon hearing this revelation of the messenger from Corinth, Jocasta understand the truth. The man she loved and who conceived four children, was the heir generated by your cursed womb. In desperation, the queen fled to his chambers. The pain of revelation burned his chest. Throughout his life he had dreamed of having the child arms, had it so unworthy as husband and lover. Oedipus was her son. Lost in despair of revelation, the beautiful Jocasta hangs up. Dies without dropping a single groan. In the pale by the arrival of death, the last two tears traverse its length.
In the immense hall of the palace, Oedipus, to get the servant of Laius, to hear him latest revelation, the man recognized at the same king who had killed a stranger in love Megas crossroads. Oedipus finally deciphers the your own puzzle, was the son of Laius, whom he killed, and Jocasta, whom he had married. Desperate before the revelation, Oedipus runs into the apartments of the queen, hoping to embrace it as maAnd ask forgiveness for their shameful mistake. When it comes to the bedroom, the beauty queen is dead, killed by his own hand and guilt. Before the mirror of his truths, Oedipus decides to no longer see the world. The image of his dead wife maAnd would be the last they would see. In an act of desperation, justice and punishment, he tore the brooches that adorned the dress of Jocasta. They pierced with their own eyes, plunging forever into the world of blindness.

Bring A Gap Body Oedipus

To rid Thebes of the plague, Oedipus promised to banish the murderer of Laius the middle of its population. When you reveal the truth, the unfortunate sovereign, he was victim of its own decree. Banned, blind beggar and squalid, Oedipus left on the roads of Greece, to expiate his guilt and curse. In its way, was always driven by his daughter Antigone, who would never abandon his father.
After spending time wandering in many lands, Oedipus arrived at Colonus, in Attica. There, he took refuge in the temple of the Eumenides, where he finally felt relief for his guilt, resting in the happiness of the righteous. Old and homeless, Oedipus had lost everything you can lose a man, youth, maAnd wife, the throne, wealth, vision. Was left to him the unconditional love of Antigone. After seeing Oedipus
wrong and the punishment had forced to live for himself, Apollo, the god who always prophesied to his misery, and through the pitfalls of Destiny, charge you the fulfillment of it, finally had pity on their suffering. The god of light comforted him in recent years, attracting the blessing of the Olympians to the place that would serve him for he had buried.
already old and tired, Oedipus walked to the edge of a cliff, there sat on a rock, dressing up in a shroud. There was a loud bang in the sky. The earth opened smoothly, getting the body purged of suffering and Oedipus. The location of the tomb of the most famous king of Thebes was never revealed. It is only known who is in Attica, and for this reason that land is blessed by the gods of Olympus.

Delivery of The Curse

But the curse upon the descendants of Labdacus not ended in tragedy is ; Dipo. After his father died, Antigone returned to Thebes, to join the brothers, Ismene, Eteocles and Polynices, the only family you have left in the world. By
return to Thebes, Antigone met the brothers, Eteocles and Polynices in serious competition for the throne. In a final confrontation, the two brothers engaged in a bloody struggle and fatal. The result was the death of both.
Creon, the uncle of the brothers fratricidal, Jocasta's brother, inherited the throne of Thebes. Eteocles was the favorite nephew of Creon, so he buried him with full honors, leaving the body of Polynices fallen dead where abandoned, forbidding under pain of death, any person to bury him.
Antigone was uncomfortable with the sort of Polynices, tried on all the arguments, convince the uncle to let her brother be buried, because he knew that without funeral rites, the late prince was doomed to wander for a hundred years by the river of the dead. Faced with the indifference of Creon, Antigone disobeyed his orders, and Polynices buried with their hands. As punishment, the king sentenced her to be buried alive. Even before the entreaties of Ismene, the kindest daughter of Oedipus was cruelly buried alive by the heralds of Creon.
Ismene, the last survivor of the sons of Oedipus and Jocasta, would later killed by the warrior Tideu. Upon reaching the third generation, was achieved by a curse on Pelops Labdacus.

& MOUTHS - GAL COSTA WITH MOUTH IN THE WORLD

In 1977, Gal Costa came in recent years in three different moments of his career: first, in 1974, culminated in two albums, " Season Summer - Live in Bahia , "he shared with Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, and" Singing "where the singer recorded the beauty your voice, choosing to clear a corner which valued the splendor of his unique voice, almost to bring us a recital of luxury. Despite the splendor of the moment, the public rejected criticism of the knockout and the perfection of that work, calling back the rebel Gal Costa accustomed to seeing from the psychedelic " Gal" 1969. The second time resulted in the "Gal Canta Caymmi ", released in March 1976, who was born in the ride's novel " Gabriela" (1975), when Dorival Caymmi composition of the opening theme, "For Modinha Gabriela", exclusively for the singer to interpret. And finally, the third time, the show "Sweet Barbarians" in 1976, which recorded the historic meeting on the stage of Gal Costa, Maria Bethania, Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso. Sure, the inspiration of the show "In the Mouth Worldwide " and, consequently, the album "Faces & Bocas", came from the circus scenes, of colorful clothing, and a moment of "flower power " late of "Barbarians Sweets."
"Guys & Bocas", released in 1977, could be a record of uneven show " With Boca in the World", shrugging up and surpassing in quality the show . The singing and rasping treble rebels who signed up on stage, disappeared in all age groups, showing a mature singer in a mellow repertoire. The theme "Flower Power " is almost unnoticeable on the album with a timeless creation existentialist on tracks like "Black Love" and "Guys and Mouth . The hard knocks experimentalism throughout the show, showing the disruption of Gal Costa, final, ready to make it become a great lady of the MPB. "Guys & Bocas" is final, after him, could not go back to the stage of rebellion it once was, but to inaugurate a new, as outgrown the singer herself, tearing off the national scene ready to bloom. The album is this, a contrasting youthful and mature beauty of Gal Costa, who was to become the next year, the highest interpreter of Brazilian popular music in all its aspects. The record is this, a seductive and final rupture of the real Bahia.

With the Mouth in the World - Echoes of the knockout

Gal Costa became, in the late 1960s, the muse of Tropicalia, the movement sang lonely when Friends Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil went into exile in London. Of the Tropicalia existentialist philosophy and the psychedelic underground of the knockout, Gal Costa has become a youth icon of bearded intellectuals and ideologically "with no scarf, no document." Gradually the singer grew in prestige and vocal maturity and stage. Her lush sensuality contrasted with the natural intimacy, making it something unique and definitive. The knockout was getting on the road and Gal Costa was more than a singer of a certain sector of Brazilian society.
When he was thirty, sailing triumphantly by the musical universe of renowned Dorival Caymmi, expected and demanded from her most daring flights within the essence MPB. But, stubbornly, she turned back, he wanted to re-embrace that youth that tore through it, forgetting that his beard had been shaved, and bypassed the expensive cleaner trends. The show "The Sweet Barbarians ," 1976, went against the time, and insisted that the dream " flower power" was not over. He was met by fierce criticism. After the show, Maria Bethania had a career if he left without affecting the climate, and Gilberto Gil, after the humiliation by imprisonment for drug possession, has joined Rita Lee, in a unique spectacle. Gal Costa and Caetano Veloso let themselves be taken by the hippie nostalgia that had ended in Woodstock. Bahia The Master made it clear that time with the release of " Odara " a word that has become synonymous with alienation in a Brazil strangled by a military dictatorship.
Unlawful that was demanded of it, Gal Costa has chosen to show a youthful, rebellious to the climate that passed between the knockout and Tropicalia. Guilherme Araújo, then manager of the singer, was against but and insisted she was born " With Boca in the World", a show that caused controversy and contempt of criticism of Rio, in his debut at Teatro Carlos Gomes, Praça Tiradentes, the center Rio de Janeiro. Gal Costa dazzles on stage in a long dress with a forward slash. Vineyard rebellious, provocative, erasing once the effect of the recitals of the "Singing . Returned with a rasping corner, almost dirty, accompanied by strident metals, and to explore the acute exhaustion challenging, recalling the era of "Fa-tal - Gal a Todo Vapor . But the resemblance faded away before the scenic apparatus, something unprecedented in the singer's concerts. The lighting has negative criticism of all, without exceptions. The repertoire, she brought back the icons knockout songs, " Black Pearl" (Luiz Melodia) and "Vapor Barato (Jards Macalé - Waly), and the psychedelic Tropicalia, " Cinema Olympia "(Caetano Veloso). At a time that Maria Bethania publicly declared to be the only singer who could interpret in Brazil Chico Buarque, Gal Costa dared stage, which had never done on disk, the composer singing, doing it in two moments of brilliance and only to "Flower of the Ages " and "What Is ( At Terra Flora )", only for historical interpretation, culminating with the singer alone, the guitar, playing " Please A "was worth all the misconceptions of the show.
" With Boca in the World", which aimed to release his new album "Face & Mouth " suffered severe rejection, which would not affect anything in the disc. So at age 32, the singer promoted the highest break of his career, ending with the show, all the echoes of the knockout. The result proved the following year with her album "Living Water .

Voice, Note Crystal Transparent

"Guys & Bocas " album from 1977, is almost all the songs that played on the show Gal Costa " With the Mouth in the World . Had the excellent arrangements produçãoe Perinho Albuquerque. Unlike the show, the interpretations of the disc went out of the corners and sharp rasping rebels, bringing moments of softness and strength of a mature corner, ready to be explored in all its technique. The cover blended the relaxed era of "flower power " with the sophistication of a woman Balzac. Featured singer in profile, her hair disheveled purposefully on a black background. The photographs, inventing and pouting, justifying the title, were made by Marisa Alvarez Lima. Features ten tracks, three of which are versions of American composers.
The singer began the drive with intense delicacy of "Guys and Mouth " (Caetano Veloso - Maria Bethania), that song alone sets and aligns the entire proposal. Verses loose, existentialism of a more sophisticated than eloquent, intimate interpretation of color in the purchase, but intense Gal Costa. The music draws the perfect translation of a large woman who poses as a singer to follow the life of Brazil:

"But if this neck cords hidden
Of this
breast smothered
this HEART ; the jumbled
appears a bright note
Crystal transparent "

And the crystal voice, explicitly revealed in the wording and interpretation, followed by invading and ripping the tracks. "I refuse " (Rita Lee - Sérgio Luís - Lee Marcucci), gives way to levity Rita Lee ephemeral to perennial youthfulness of Gal Costa. Vibrant, cheerful, almost adolescent, the song is a nice rebellion against loneliness, flinging open the doors of the passion that is between someone without fear. The singer plays with the song, without at any time, fail to take seriously his corner. After all, everything was "on morality of the place "And nobody knew how Bahian tradition of breaking any habit.
The moment of youthful passion gives way to an intimate song, almost epic, "Call Me Crazy ( Crazy He Call's Me ) (Carl Sigman - Bob Russell - version Augusto de Campos). Great success of American music, the version of Augusto de Campos, Concrete poet, is poetic, combining beauty of tone and singing lyricism of Gal Costa. And she sings in the fire of feelings, without walking on it. Move mountains with the sweet voice of a mermaid, and the poetic words of the melody, we received the key to his musical heaven, without daring to call it even a moment of mad. In
"Clarie " (Pericles Cavalcanti), we find the maturity to hit the corner of Gal Costa, leading a moment that in other times, not avoid the knockout of passion. Interpretation of elaborately tearing a supposedly intimate latent. "Clarie " had two public releases, the album and the single compact 6069.177, released by Philips. And in the hope of a new moment that was hidden, brightening the career of the singer toward permanent identity.
the same pace, side A of the LP was finished with "My Eastern Star is ( Tindoró Dindinha )" (Jorge Ben). The world always cheerful Benjor reached safe haven in voice and style of Gal Costa. Composer had their songs recorded by her from the time of Tropicalia. The lightness existentialist, almost beast cricket, the song emphasizes the proposal of the neotropical disc, with bourgeois elegance to hippie balzaquiana who performed breathtaking. Typical music daring the universe of the muse of Tropicalismo and knockout.

Moments of Poetry and Interpretive Density

The B side of the disc was initiated by the mythical " Tigress" (Caetano Veloso) one of the most sublime and compelling interpretations of the singer's career. That year, the song was recorded simultaneously by Caetano Veloso on the album " Bug" and, by Maria Bethania, in "Morning Bird . But the interpretation was contrasted with an intimate intensity imaging, Gal Costa, the song got the exact shade of their transgressive vitality, making it a great success in 1977. The song was the theme of the character of Sonia Braga in the novel "Magic Mirror ," Lauro César Muniz, produced by TV Globo. Legend has it that " Tigress" was made for the actress. Several aspects of the trajectory of Sonia Braga shows up revealing verses, who had worked as an actress in the assembly of the legendary Brazilian musical "Hair " in early 1970. "Tigress " cites other times dated, but on the whole, they disappear under a remarkable and timeless song. Lyrics extensive and poetic moments intense, as Gal Costa knows how to drive perfectly, becoming, with his black mane, tiger of his own verses.

"Rubbing the skin golden brown
From his body against mine
told me that evil is good and very cruel"

And the intensity of the disc continues, reaching a peak in " Black Love ( It's All Over Now, Baby Blue ) "(Bob Dylan - Version Caetano Veloso - Pericles Cavalcanti). Unsettling, dense, deep, thematic symbol of the generation " Flower Power", "Black Love " brings back the era of Gal Costa's knockout, an interpretation that transits among the perfect technique of singing and passion that has always broken in emoçãoo intimacy of the voice. Pungent, almost dead, the world of Bob Dylan came to the poetry of natural MPB. The precipitation in the deep existentialist song not balance destroyer Gal Costa emotive that this interpretation is sublime and unique. She ended here, officially, the loan of her singing to that movement started there in the beginning of everything. And for those who insisted that the dream was not over, it said

"Scratch another match, another life, another light, another color
And there's nothing else, black love"

Final Live

density achieved is diluted in the proposed "My Sweet Love " (Marina - Duda Machado), where the sharp ringing of the singer are used with an unusual field, making the song grow dramatically. Marina Lima was introduced into Brazilian music as a songwriter with extraordinary brilliance. Gal Costa is here jovial, intense, passionate. And if the blood was fresh, all listeners who have bled in that voice did not fail in search of the peak. And the intimate epic
back in "Solitude " (Duke Ellington - Eddie De Lange - Irving Mills - Version Augusto de Campos), the third and final version of the disc. The world is never so lonely as our interpretation of intoxicating siren. Gal Costa mad pain with his sweet voice and sharp, when the theme is loneliness. " Solitude", though intimate, achieved success, becoming the soundtrack of the novel " Dancin 'Days " by Gilberto Braga in 1978. The success was immediate, and the singer was invited to join a chapter the novel, finding himself with the characters of Joan and Sonia Braga Fomm. On the track, another moment of delicacy and intuitive interpretation of emotion.
During the show "With Boca in the World," one of the most applause was when Gal Costa sat at a small bank, and the guitar solo, played "A Favor (Lupicinio '). The crowd went wild. The singer brought to the album that moment of beauty, ending with this song the ten tracks on " Guys & Bocas. " The version presented here was not recorded in the studio, came directly from the stage, live. Cleverly, the album was finished in a tone that gave the feeling of having been made all live in the warmth of the audience that he had heard all the tracks. Gal Costa draws the poignant tone of the universe for loner Lupicinio ', giving him, with the complicity of the public, a dimension of hope in the face of setbacks passion. Following this interpretation, the song became a classic of the MPB.
"Guys & Bocas " he concludes, with sofisticaçãoe beauty, which was only hinted in With Boca in the World. " Consolidates the prestige of Gal Costa, making clear that it was time to take the bare feet of the singer on stage, so he stepped sandals with silver at the heart of Brazilian popular music.

Display brightness

AMNESTY - THE RETURN OF EXILED

With the end of the Institutional Act No. 5 (AI-5), which expired in January 1979, was open the way for it to enact a law to bring amnesty to prisoners, exiles and processed by the so called politically motivated crimes.
The fight for amnesty in Brazil had become intense, beyond the left parties illegal, reaching, since 1975, concrete and important sectors of Brazilian society. If women in 1964, the church and entrepreneurs have joined in demonstrations to receive military coup, the political landscape had changed the face of brutality of the dictatorship established in the country, no longer believed in the lie that was told about a possible Communist revolution. Mothers, wives, children and friends of political prisoners, along with students, politicians, journalists and stronger popular subscriptions, have banded together and formed committees to fight for amnesty, the broad and unrestricted Brazilian exiles all that sad and dark period of military dictatorship.
Pressured by the movements for the amnesty, the government sent in July 1979, a bill to Congress, which provided for the forgiveness of crimes politicians. The government's proposal, which excluded those convicted of terrorism and favored the military and the authorities responsible for acts of torture, had been rejected earlier by the opposition party Democratic Movement Brasileiro (MDB), which required a broad amnesty and blatant.
Even in the face of limited protests and eager to Brazilian society, by 206 votes to 201, was approved Law 6683, enacted on August 28, 1979, by the last military dictatorship of President, Joao Figueiredo. The amnesty law has benefited 4,650 people, causing them to return country to the politicians who in 1964 were taken as the greatest enemies of the military regime: the former governors and Miguel Arraes Brizola. Some time later, the Brazilian airports have been taken by returning one by one, the so-called stateless, one day, to fight against the military dictatorship, left by the back door of Brazil's history. The apotheosis was back in party mood, with wide press coverage. It was the biggest win against the repressive government installed since 1964.
Three decades after enactment of the law in 2009, Antonio Geraldo da Costa, Neguinho, a former marine and militant leftist organizations, was the last political exile to return to Brazil, ending forever the cycle.
The amnesty law promulgated since it had withdrawn some of its articles, and is still controversial, since it left the butchers exempted from the punishment of the holds of the dictatorship that tortured and killed hundreds of people. Even before the protests, was undoubtedly the biggest step to the back of the opposing leaders and historical and bury it for once, the military dictatorship, ends in 1985.

Women to Fight for Home Give Amnesty

After massive march through the streets of Rio de Janeiro, which received the insurgent troops commanded by General coup Olympio Moura the Son, and the overthrow of President Joao Goulart consolidated; began immediately, persecution, expulsion, torture and purges, which hit civilians and military contrary rivers to the coup.
In the first phase of the dictatorship, pre-AI-5, torture, although more discrete, only lost to the forfeitures. After December 1968, promulgated the AI-5, he withdrew the habeas corpus for political prisoners, and as a consequence of the institutionalization of torture banalizaçãoea . Repressive laws such as the National Security Act, or the death penalty for so-called terrorists were implemented. The leftists have lost their civil rights, going into hiding.
In immediate response to the government's repressive measures military, left the established urban guerrillas and kidnapping foreign diplomats in Brazil. Several political prisoners were exchanged for the hostages. In exchange, they were put on planes and sent to any country that would deign to receive them. Once out of Brazil, these political prisoners lost the right to citizenship, becoming stateless. Since then, began, tentatively, that a struggle for amnesty for the imprisoned and persecuted the scheme.
The fight for amnesty not only meant the pursuit of regaining redemocratizaçãoea political rights, but also the return of citizenship to illegal immigrants and stateless persons, and to end torture in the dungeons.
Officially, the fight broke her amnesty of Brazilian women. In 1975, the Organization of United Nations (UN) said that the International Year of Women. In commemoration of the event, Therezinha Godoy Zerbini, a respected lawyer, wife of General Euryale Zerbini, impeached in 1964 for giving its support to the government of John Goulart, founded in São Paulo, Male by Amnesty Movement (FMAP), who became a voice of civil society in the fight against the repressive measures of the system in favor of the order of exception acts against prisoners and political exiles.
Interestingly, the movement started from a traditional military family, confirming that not all of that sector of Brazilian society were in favor of dictatorship established in 1964. Therezinha Godoy Zerbini was always guarded by the police's repressive regime. Was arrested on charges of having procured the loan of the site Ibiúna, where he gave the famous and fateful conference of the National Union of Students (UNE) in 1968. Along with eight other women, the lawyer drafted a manifesto in favor of amnesty, reading it in Mexico City during a UN conference, in commemoration of International Women's Year.

hatch Movements By Amnesty

naçãoa calling on all to fight for amnesty, the women's movement spread to many sectors of society, bringing them to the accessions of Bar Association of Brazil (OAB), the Brazilian Press Association (ABI), the Catholic Church and the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning, among others. In 1976, the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science, was the applause when three thousand people in the meeting, passed a motion calling for amnesty. In 1978, he founded the city of Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Committee for Amnesty, based in ABI. Brazil has adhered, from north to south, to that movement. The struggle reached
also sectors led by politicians who were part of support government, as Senator Teotonio Vilela. When you visit the 84 political prisoners on hunger strike throughout Brazil, the senator came into contact with the sad reality of torture in the country, showing the terror that fell upon those prisoners. Moved, Teotonio Vilela knelt in front of torture victims and apologized for not having seen before such barbarity. The senator would become a strong advocate of democratization in Brazil. In the struggle for amnesty, he went out at rallies across the country, releasing a dove as a symbol of hope. Your gesture will be repeated at the rallies of the Direct Elections Now movement in 1984. Teotonio Vilela go down in history with the nickname of "Minstrel of Alagoas. Seeing
touch so many movements, the government decided to send himself a draft amnesty for Congress to avoid that extended to its greatest enemies, called terrorists, and to safeguard the military and civilian personnel directly involved with Torture in Brazil, avoiding suffering punishment or retaliation in the future.
Thus, the then minister justice, Petronio Portella, drafted the bill in July 1979, sending it to a vote in Congress in August. The final text would be announced in a televised ceremony.
Backstage, opposition to military regime condemned the project and the constraints that brought. From July 22 to August 22, 1979, was held a hunger strike in Brazil for political prisoners, contrary to the law of amnesty project drafted by Petronio Portella. Movements that erupted across the country, the slogans were: " Amnesty Broad, General and Unrestricted .

Enacted Law

Specifically, the project benefited the prisoners who fell in the punishment provided by the National Security Law. From April 1964 to July 1979, 2,429 people had been convicted of that law. They were divided into two groups for the purpose of amnesty:
The first group, comprising 1,729 people, was punished for the crimes of the politicians themselves, they being the clandestine militants who had not been involved in terrorism. Thus, the law benefited immediately, the leader Communist history Prestes, former student leaders such as Vladimir Palmeira, the political leader and former governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Leonel Brizola, the sociologist Herbert de Souza, sister ; of the Henfil, that would be immortalized by the song "Drunk and The Wire ," John Bosco and Aldir Blanc, and several others.
The second group, composed of 700 condemned inmates gathered for bank robbery and acts of terrorism. Facing criticism, Petronio Portella declare that in future, some of them could receive a pardon.
Finally, on August 22, 1979, the bill went to vote in Congress. That day, in Brasilia, three thousand people took to the streets in a rally to demand a general amnesty and unconditional. In the plenary session of Congress, no empty space left by the crowd that filled him. In the galleries, listen to the popular, which resoundingly booed every speech made by the representatives of the National Renewal Alliance (ARENA), the repressive government party. After a tight vote, was approved by 206 votes to 201, an amnesty for politically motivated crimes committed in Brazil.
On August 28, 1979, the military president, Gen. Joao Batista Figueiredo, sanctioned the Law No. 6683, drafted by the government of the dictatorship, which would be known as the Amnesty Law. It was called the forgiveness that the repressive government, winner in 1964, gave his vanquished foes and future winners of democratization in 1985. They were pardoned all citizens punished since April 9, 1964, edition date of the Institutional Act No. 1 (AI-1). Students, intellectuals, teachers, scientists, former military, especially low rank, many deprived of their office, received the benefit of the new law.
But the Law of the amnesty would bring its restrictions. The reuse of public servants and military amnesty, was subject to the decision of special committees created by the respective ministries to examine each case. Gone are classified by the convicted persons " violent crimes or terrorist acts committed by those who resorted to groups armed struggle. Those who committed violent crimes against the left, the military torturers and murderers, have all benefited.
The amnesty law has reached and benefited 4,650 people. He freed political prisoners who were confined in jail in Brazil, benefited deprived of their jobs and duties, which allowed the return of exiles. On November 1, 1979, started arriving at airports, the first political exiles. Miguel Arraes, Herbert de Souza, Brizola, Fernando Gabeira ... Everyone who came was received applause and smiles from under the registration of the national press.
In 1985, Romero Theodomiro dos Santos, a former militant of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Brazil (PCBR), the only political prisoner who had been sentenced to death for killing a sergeant of the Air Force in 1970, was the last political exile to be granted amnesty, pardon the democratization of the country. But curiously, the last political exile to return to Brazil in 2009, thirty years after the promulgation of the Amnesty Law, was the former sailor and militant urban guerrillas, Antonio Geraldo da Costa, Neguinho, aged 75. He had lived until then in exile in Sweden, with a false identity. He did not return earlier because he did not believe that the amnesty was true.
Bringing Brazilians 'stateless' back, the opponents of the regime to release prisoners, ended a period of pain and shame in the history of Brazil. The amnesty tortured, thanked the Amnesty Law, despite challenge it at various points the pardoned torturers never made an apology to the nation, arrogantly continue to urge that complied with the patriotic duty, protecting the nation. Nation that they protected? The minority elite that represented?
