Search for used car is greater
Although still below the expectations of most retailers, the marketing vehicle used in the independent dealers had positive results in March. The turnover grew by 2.5% compared to February, reaching A total of 80,447 units sold, according to data from Assovesp (Association of Automobile Dealers in the State of São Paulo). If compared to March last year, the result is even better with a high of 37.8% in the number of units sold.
According to the IATA survey, the popular vehicles equipped with 1.0 engine, topped the sales of used. The sale of these cars, which usually has a very fast turnover in the retail, accounted for 68% of transactions made in March.
The numbers of the Association - for the whole state of São Paulo - do not accurately reflect the business climate parking in the area, by tenants consulted by the Journal. Here, on average, the business remained stable in March, compared to last month. In comparison with March last year, shopkeepers show slight improvement this year, but far from the growth of almost 40% in sales recorded in the state.

On New Auto, also of St. Bernard, the situation is the same. "Sales in February of March drew with in two months sold just 26 cars," says store manager, Alessandro Sabonaro. In the comparison with March 2005, business was better. The shop registered a 30% increase in sales. Among the independent dealers heard by this reporter, the one that showed a significant increase in sales was a subsidiary of Romer Global Auto Mall in Multibrand, in Santo André. According to commercial manager Marcio Pereira, the number of units sold grew about 10% in March compared to February.
"We had a reasonable performance. Overall, sales are better this year, but it's amazing how businesses have swung, "he says. According to manager, sales have followed the "type of product available." "When I have a good volume of lower-priced cars like the popular up to $ 15 000, which have a good spin, things go well," said Pereira.
